I am seeking information on the roots of Rev. John Wesley Abernethy (b. Sept 1830 NC). Supposedly his mother was Martha Elizabeth Jennings Asbury and his father was Robert Abernathy. I have no concrete family information on JW's parents and am seeking something that would positively identify this link. JW married Martha Anne Rea but his family bible indicates that only Rea family members attended. There is no information in his bible on his roots.
