My grandfather came from Russia at the end of the 19th Century/early 20th Century. When he entered Ellis Island, his brother suggested he adopt the surname of Stitt. We are not of the Scots-Irish decendancy, but of Russian-Jewish heritage. I know that my grandfather had various siblings - at least one went to Canada and at least one went to Chile, South America.
