I am researching my husbands family...ATKINS. His gggrandfather was Moses B Atkins, born around 1830 in Macon Co,NC. At least that is what he put on his Civil War muster information. We have no information about his parents/siblings. He/family moved to Illinois in 1840-1850. He shows up in the 1860 Jefferson Co,Il census. The name may show up as Adkins.
