In searching for my ancestor, Heinrich Kemp. I have come across info on other Kemps from Germany. I have pasted 11 sources of info on Kemp families in Germany and Illinois from my records: (1) Niedersächsisches Staatsarchiv Forstweg 2 38302 Wolfenbüttel, Germany The following may be related to my Heinrich Kemp: August Heinrich Friedrich Kempe born Nov. 2, 1815, father was Fridrich Kempe, mother was Johanna Maria Christine Bergdorf. (Godparents: August Ahrens, Heinrich Sochtig, and, wife of Heinrich Lippers. All from Hohen Assel). Records from Kirchenbucher von Hohenassel (located 12 miles SW of Braunschweig), show that the above, had a brother Johan Karl Heinrich Kempe, born Sept. 5, 1811 in Bergdorf. (see (2) below). (Could these two brothers be my Heinrich's cousins?) (need to check) NOTE: Wolfenbüttel does not have emmigration records before 1876. Heinrich was not in the address book of the city, 1841-1846. Says that emmigration lists from port of Bremen no longer exists. Staatsarchiv in Hamburg have emmigration lists.
