Hi, my name is Rodney Sam. I am doing some research on my g-g-g grandfather, Theophile LaChapelle, a fmoc who lived in the Opelousas area of St. Landry Parish. I am trying to find out who his parents were. In every Census he is listed as a mulatto except in 1870 when he is listed as white. I first discover him in the 1850 us louisiana census living in Opelousas as a 19 year old free mulatto laborer. What is so interesting about the record is that living with him is a 60 year old white woman. Her name is given as Mrs. Pierre Bellome. I deduce that her husband was a name known as Pierre Bellome. I believe this person could be a clue to the identity of my ancestors relatives. I want to know why is she living in the household with my ancestor Theophile. Any info or advice would be helpful. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
