Query Text: |
Spreading over both Fannin and Grayson Counties there was a huge ranch in the late 1800s owned by Thomas C. Bean who died in about 1887. When he died he was unmarried and he left no will. A Henry Peyton Howard, up my ancestral tree, became an executor or a co-executor of Thomas Bean's estate and there were well over 100 claimants from all over the world who claimed to be heirs. One was a Sarah Dove from Washington DC, whose maiden name was Sarah Ann Bean. She was about 80 years old when the claim was made and she said that Thomas Bean was a cousin. In my quest for family genealogy of that time, I think I can tie her into the Bean and the Howard line, but that tie is still tenuous. The estate was still not settled in about 1905 when a Dallas newspapers summarized the situation and I have a copy of that article. I am writing to see if you have any information on that Bean ranch and on the litigation that resulted from the claims on it. Somewhere in that litigation I strongly suspect there will be information on the Bean family line, including Thomas and our line, that will help me immeasurably to unravel some family mysteries. I can send you a more detailed summary of the information I have if that would help. Meanwhile, I hope to hear from you soon and I hope you can help or advise me where I might turn next. Sincerely, Bill Howard | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
