My great-grandfather, Raphael Costantino came from Italy in 1897? and settled in Connecticut for a short time. Later he married a 15 year old, Elvria Abate from Elmira, New York. She had a stepfather named Augustino D'onofrio. Her mother, Maria Abate D'onofrio died in childbirth and the stepfather gave the children up for adoption or, in my greatgrandmother's case, married them off. My great-grandparents settled in Pittsburgh. I have found my great grandmother listed in the 1900 census in Allegheny Countyalong with her sister, brother, and step siblings. Any information would be helpful. Angelo Abate was in prison in the early 1900's for a possible murder conviction. Any help in locating prison records would be appreciated.
