I would like to know more about the Slifer family of Illinois/Iowa. My great grandfather was Claude J. Slifer (b. Mar. 23 1886 in Waterloo, Iowa d. May 16, 1947 Idaho Falls, ID) and he married Martha Dahlstrom (b. Nov. 5 1887 Idaho Falls, ID) in Idaho Falls, ID. His parents were Joshua G. Slifer(b. 1862? Lamark, Carroll Co., IL d. 1884 Marshalltown, IA) and Margaret Alice Sherk (mothers name not sure, possibly a Native American or born of a Native American). Any information on her, Margaret Alice Sherk, or the Dahlstroms is helpful too. It is possible that Joshua G. Slifer's parents were named Israel Slifer of Maryland and Mary Summers. All of this may be inaccurate. Also I believe that the more recent Slifers were Mormon immigrants but I'm not sure.
