POUVIER /desPOUVIER /POWERS. Before or about the Rev.War period,in lower New York [colony]area and maybe N.Y.City, afamily with and maybe using these two surnames.There may have been an Augustus A. POWERS married to a Katherine [MITCHELL].Katherine may have been from NJ or PA.. Next, the family is found in Ontario,Canada,perhaps in the vicinity of Merrickville or ?Montaque? Twp. or elsewhere in the Rideau River area.Two other connected families in Canada were CHESTER and BROWN. An Urseila[CHESTER],dau.of Jesse and Phoebe[BROWN] CHESTER married a Sidney S.POWERS who was born c.1819. The CHESTER and BROWN families were LOYALISTS from one of the USA colonies as the Rev.War. began. Some of this desPOUVIER/POWERS family then moved over into the USA in the New York north-counties of Jefferson and Oswego counties.
