I would like information on Wilks or Wilkes family in Lauderdale County Alabama. I have a marriage license issued in Lauderdale County on December 3, 1839 to Nancy George Wilks and B.S.(Bird Smith)Grason(this should be Creasey). Nancy's mother was Mary "Polly" Foster b.January 5, 1781 d. November 18, 1863 in McDonough County, IL. Her father was Benjamin Wilks b. December 16, 1787 d. 1843 in Lauderdale County, AL. Nancy had at least two brothers, Francis and James. James was an ordained minister. He died in Greenup County KY around 1850.
