Query Text: |
I am seeking information on Richard McConkey, emigrant from co.Monaghan,Ireland, who emigrated from there to Orleans County in 1832. His family consisted of : Wife : Jane (maiden name : Hillock) Children : John (b. 1805), Charles (b. 1811), Jane (b.1814), Elizabeth (b. 1816), Maria (b. 1819), Richard Jr. (b. 1822), William (b. 1823), Clemina (b. 1827). The McConkey family did not stay for very long in Orleans County and by the mid-1830s, they had moved across to Upper Canada (now Ontario) where they settled in the area of Peterborough, Ontario. I am particularly seeking data on the daughter Elizabeth McConkey who seems to have stayed in New York as there is little documentary trace of her presence in Peterborough records. In January 1845 in Cape Vincent, New York, an Elizabeth McConkey, born in Ireland in 1818, married a Matthew Ruttan (born 1802 in Adolphustown, Co. of Lennox and Addington, in Upper Canada, i.e, Ontario). I am attempting to ascertain if this Elizabeth McConkey is the missing daughter of Richard and Jane (Hillock) McConkey referred to above. I would appreciate receiving any information on this McConkey family, particularly on the elusive daughter Elizabeth McConkey. Sincerely, Peter McConkey | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
