I am researching my Carey Family roots and have very little information to go on. My great-grandfather was William Carey who was supposedly born in Ohio in 1843, then came to Kentucky. He was a Private in the 14th KY Infantry during the Civil War.(National Archives records too dim to produce additional info.) He married Emily Burgess in 1867. They had 11 children. He died in 1928 in Louisa. It has been handed down that his parents, Michael and Mary Ellen, were born in Ireland. She came to Ohio to stay with a brother of Michael. William is said to have had a brother named Thomas, also a sister whose name is unknown. If anyone has any information regarding this branch of the Carey's, I would greatly appreciate hearing from you. So far my trips to Ohio have proved fruitless.
