I am looking for information regarding Mary Samuels who came to own a slave named Alfred/Alford through inheritance. She filed for compensation from the govenment in 1867 for his joining the USCT. I am not sure if Samuels is her married name, but am assuming so. Any information on Mary will be greatly appreciated. BTW, she lived in Nelson County, Kentucky.
