I am attempting to find my maternal roots! I know that my maternal grandfather, Lancy N. Butler (Butler-Patterson roots) was born in South Pittsburg, TN on 22 March 1893, and died in August 1937 at Fitzsimmons Army Hospital. I don't know anything about his roots other than where he was born, and I want to know more because he died before I was born on his birthday, 55 years after he was born. The family will not give me the information I am requesting to see if he possessed a Certificate of Degree of Indian Blood (CDIB) to prove the monies received by my mother after he died, in information on his mother and fathers people. My Grandmother, Isabelle (Gentry-Hightower roots)was born at home in Denver, Colorado June, 1907, the first child of William Henry Gentry and Sophia Marie Hightower, and I have no information on them at all.
