Re:Carmel Rock Chapel est in 1891 Carmel Louisiana loacted in what used to be the community of Bayou Pierre, but was changed to Carmel in 1889. A young priest from Natchitoches, Father Pierre did services there til he died mysterously in mid 1860;s. 10 yrs later Rev Anastasius Peters from Dallas moved to Bayou Pierre to establish a Carmelite monastary, at the time their were 31 Carmelite monks living in the monastary and 4 carmelite sisters operating a a convent and school for girls. I trying to find information on the monks and the nuns that were living their. In 1904 a mysterious fire burned down the monastery except for the Rock Chapel. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
