Hi,My name is Donald T Hughes I am looking for my ancestors Conrad Bernauer and his wife Maria Zuber. They meet on the ship William on the way to the states. I found their passage on the William out of Rotterdam to Philadelphia Pa. ariving on the 4 of November 1817."Maria Anna Zuber bound herself servent to James Van Uxem of Morrisville,Bucks County miller to serve him three years.And at the expiration of her term to have two complete suits of clothes, one thereof to be new,consideration=66.30" Maria was the only one that was listed in the book of indentures on the docks of Philadelphia because the date of their docking was nov 4.and the book's first entery was Nov5,1817 mara's whole family was on ship. They are listed as Mdsitz Zuber and family on the ship manifest. My GGgrand-father was Conrad Bernauer He was in line to be drafted in to the army and his brother had just lost his life in the war so conrad took his brother's papers and went to Switzerland with his brother Joseph,and then on to the USA.
