Eliza Considine & William Irvine- Ireland and Canada Eliza Considine, my G.G.Grandmother is like finding a needle in a haystack-for I know nothing about her. Who were her parents? Did she have siblings? She married William Irvine. Their daughter Catherine, born about 1834, (Ireland? Canada?) married John Kaiser about 1855. (John was in Canada) My clue's came from a little piece of paper that read: Eliza Considine, married WM. Irvine. born at town of Naine? Maine? (hard to read) County Claire, Ireland. Mother of Catherine who married John E. Kaiser, son of Jacob Kaiser. (son of Peter Kaiser) On the other side of the paper: William Irvine was a Sergeant of the 79th Regiment of Highlanders. Enlisted in the year 1816. Was in the battle of Waterloo. Came to Canada about 1835. Being highly educated, taught school in Canada at Edgeley and other places. Retired in 1874, becoming Postmaster at Elders Mills, where he retired until his death in 1880 (86?) I recently received this: From a biography of Dr. T. E. Kaiser, circa 1910. (Dr. T. E. Kaiser was my Grandfather's brother) The Doctors mother was Catherine Irvine, a daughter of William Irvine, who was a Scotchman and a member of the famous regiment known as the Cameron men. He [William Irvine] was schoolmaster sergeant for the regiment and was present at the battle of Waterloo. After coming to Canada he continued to engage in teaching school, principally in York County. He was a university graduate and many men of the past generation owe their education to him, one of his most distinguished pupils being the late John Hilliard Cameron. Now you know as much as I know-- I have nothing further on Eliza or William. I can supply info from their daughter Catherine Irvine who married John Kaiser on down, if anyone is interested-- I'm hoping someone will know something about my GG Grandparents! Thanks for taking the time to read this-I'll keep my fingers crossed! Kris rkladykris@aol.com | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
