Searching for info on my gr-gr grandfather, James Demint. (possibly Dement) He was born about 1817 in Indiana and was living in Massac County, IL at least in the years 1848-1855. Wife's name: Elvina; 3 children: William, Amanda and John. In 1860, the family had moved to Dunklin Counry, MO. James' son, William was murdered in 1863 (hung by Civil War deserters) James married again in 1865 in MO. Uncertain what happened to first wife.
