Query Text:

I am looking for a connection between the Koontz's of Ford Co., KS, and the Koontz's of Hodgeman Co., KS. Evidently, my Aunt Rubie was mistaken, in her youth, for a Koontz of Hodgeman Co., while walking down a street in Jetmore, so there must have been a resemblance in looks of these two Koontz families. The George Washington Koontz born Dec. 9, 1862 of Jetmore, Hodgeman Co., KS can be traced to his father, Noah Koontz, whose father was John Koontz married to Anna Mauk, whose father was Jacob Koontz married to Barbara Beaver, whose father was Elder John Koontz of Shenendoah Co., VA, married to Elizabeth Baker. If you continue with ancestry, this family leads to Henchin Koontz who was born about 1500. George W. Koontz b. 1862, who was married to Nora Mae Rose and was buried in Jetmore, Hodgeman Co., KS, had the following children: Edith Koontz born 1887, Edith Dulcina born 1897, Olvia Belle boern 1889, Alva Ernest born 1896, Bessie andrew born 1899, Lela Grace bornf 1892, and George Addison born 1909. All of this information was gleaned from various internet websites. The Koontz's of Ford County, KS ancestors came from Kanawha Co. VA near Ripley (same as Jackson Co., WV). Wilson Koontz, married to Christena Pfost, was born abt 1819 in V. His children were Isaac D. Koontz born 1841, Elizabeth born 1844, George Washington born 1847, Melissa Jane born 1849. Wilson's children, by his second wife, Hannah Crites, were Cloe born 1852, Nancy Ella born 1856. Wilson's third wife was Jane Stewart. Wilson migrated from Virginia to Missouri in the late 1850's. George Washington Koontz born 1847 and married to Sarah Isabelle Arnold, lived in Henry County, Missouri. His children were Lou Ellen born 1868, Lonnie Virgil born 1870, Everett W. born 1973, George Washington born 1875, Cora Mailassa born 1877, Lloyd Hunt born 1880, Mervin "Tinte" born 1882, Winnie D. born 1886, Isaac "Jack" D. Koontz born 1888, and Lacie Viola born 1889. Lloyd Hunt and his children migrated to Dodge City, Ford Co., KS., not far from Jetmore, Hodgeman Co., KS where the other Koontz's lived. We don't know much about Lloyd's siblings, except that they were born, died, or lived in Johnson, Bates, Jackson, Cooper, or Henry Counties, Missouri, or Stafford Co., KS. Lloyd and two brothers, Lonnie and Everett all died in 1940. George W. Koontz of Jetmore, KS. also died in 1940. Any information about or linking these two families would be appreciated.
