Searching for information on Augustus BACKUS, b. abt 1833. Married Mary PARTEE in Greene Co., GA in 1855. Had four children: Martha C. (Mattie), Lucinda (Lucy), George and Augustus (Bartie). He served in the 8th GA Infantry, Co. K, during the Civil War and died in a Richmond, VA hospital in 1862. Would very much like to find his parents and any information on what became of his children. Oldest daughter Mattie is my gg grandmother. I haven't been able to find info on her siblings after 1880. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
