Looking for information for William Clutter (born 1790-1800 possibly PA died May 1843 PA) married to Christina Bane (born 1800 PA died WV after 1880, daughter of John Bane). In 1840 there were three William Clutter's listed in Morris Township, Washington county, PA. Orphans court info lists Mathias and Henry as over 14 children of William Clutter dated May 23, 1843. The children of William Clutter and mother Christina listed as under 14 were Cephas, Samuel, Sarah Jane (my gggrandmother born 12-25-1833), Elizabeth, and John dated May 23, 1843. Orphan court 1849 lists children of William and Christina Bane Clutter as Mary (Harvey Saunders), Rhoda ( William C. Wolfe); Lucinda (Thomas Williamson); Emma (Edward Tower); Mathais; Henry/Harvey; Cephas; Samuel; Sarah Jane (Jeptha Smith); Elizabeth; John B. Clutter. Christina Clutter married before 1850 to Amos Headley and moved to Tyler County, WV. The confusion is, I believe, there were two William Clutter's that died in Morris Township, Washington County, PA in 1843. My William Clutter in May and the other in July both leaving minor children. Please contact me if you are a descendent of William and Christina Bane Clutter. Would love to share info on Sarah Jane Clutter. I have her death certificate listing William Clutter as father and Tiny Bain as mother. Sarah Jane Clutter Smith died in 1829 in Iowa and her death card lists Washington County, PA as place of birth. judy@denvermix.com
