I am trying to find out more about my great grandfather. His name was Absolom (could be Absolem) Andrew Dodson (born June 20, 1858 and died October 1,1911), his wife was Mary Elizabeth (Sadler) Dodson (born Jugust 7, 1850 and died July 20, 1941). Mary was married twice. The first marrage was to William Nevels Martin (Born Sept 7, 1853 in Young county, Texas and Died Dec. 30, 1882). Mary and William had 5 childred: William Thomas Martin, John Henry Martin, Joe Martin, Maggie Martin and Charlie Martin. Mary and Absolom/Absolem Dodson were married in 1885 in Taylor Country Texas at Buffalo Gap. He was born in Van Zant Texas. I got a copy of his death certificate and it shows his mothers maiden name was Mary Woods. I know that she came from Georgia. His fathers name is listed as unknown. I know that his father did come from Arkansas. In 1910 A.A. Dodson and wife were in Grady County Okla. His death certificate shows him as being a farmer. As stated he died on October 1, 1911 of Brights disease in Hennipen Oklahoma. They had four children: Ed Dodson and Jesse Dodson (My Grandfather) and two died in infancy. The moved to Oklahoma and Absolom/Absolem and Mary are burried in the Hennepin Cememery in Oklahoma. Jesse married Sarah Robinson in 1908 and had two children: Maggie Lois and Paul Virgil (My father). Maggie Lois was married to Sidney Long (she died in 1993 and is burried in the Allen, Okla. Cementery). Paul was born in 1910 and died in 1967 and is also buried in Allen Okla. Paul married Cora Davis in 1949 and I am their only child. My mother Cora died December 31, 1993 and is burried in Comanche Okla. next to her parents (Joe and Sina (Tatum)Davis). My name is Paul Wayne Dodson b. 10/31/49. I am married to Donna (Combs) Dodson and we have one child (Tammy) b 02/24/80. Any help on who Absolom's/Absolem's parents were would be greatly appreciated. I have been searching for 10 years and cannot find anything and want to trace our tree for my daughter. This is about all I have on my Great Grandfather and need to know his fathers name. NOTE: All records that I have found shows him as A.A. Dodson. Older members of my family said that this is then only name he went by and it is the only thing on his headstone.
