Searching for information on the Buchanans. My grandfather was CHARLES WILLIAM b 1861 and listed in the 1870 Census. He is in the HH of WILLIAM F. & MADORA BUCHANAN w sister FANNIE b. 1863; JOHN b. 1865; MARY ELIZABETH b. 1869.MADORA'S maiden name is HOWARD. In the 1860 census list child ROBERT 8mo. WILLIAM F. appears to be the son of CHARLES & LOVIE B.(ANDERSON) BUCHANAN. He is listed in that HH in the 1850 census aged 19 but is 26 in the 1860 census and 37 in 1870. The 1850 census also lists JOHN D. b.1835; MARY b.1838; and MARGARET b.1841. CHARLIE & LOVIE are both listed aged 38 and were married 1/25/1832. Whether these are all connected I do not know for sure. There is also a JOHN D. and wife listed in the 1840 census both aged 60 - 70. This could be CHARLIE's father as he named a son John D. I found a WILLIAM F married to a SARAH A. HAMILTON on 12/29/1881. I do not know if this is MADORA'S husband. She was the daughter of ROBERT HOWARD of Newton CO. JOHN D. BUCHANAN married SUSAN CALAHAN 6/20/1859; this could be the JOHN D. listed in the HH of CHARLES & LOVIE. I also understand that a MARY ELIZA BUCHANAN married GARRETT in 1857 and is listed in Wayfarers in WALTON p. 791. This might be the MARY sister of JOHN D.
