My grandfather came from Austria Hungary in 1906. His name was Joska Jurik. He came from the town Erdevik which is currently in Serbia. A brother went to Argentina. They were Slovak. He came to Lebanon, Pa. to his cousin Stefan Peckowski. Stefan's wife, Julka (Juliana) came to Lebanon in 1905 from Erdevik with their infant son, Paul, and a relative named Martin Suseky. Stefan came in 1904. The Peckovski's had three more children in the US -- Anni, Joseph and John. My grandfather married Katalin Toth in Lebanon. She came from Palanka in Hungary in 1907. Her sister, Barbara, was married to Michael Papp. Joseph and Katie moved to Cincinnati, Ohio. They had one child, Helen. My grandfather used the name Miller and Urick. In 1920 Stefan was a farmer in Berkes county. My mother remembers the name as Petosky. Through census records I knew they also spelled the name Betozhkie and Bascaskie. Some of the children used CASKIE. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
