I am searching for William S. Kidd born ca 1817. Information I have states, he was born in Scotland County, but at the time he was born, it was known as Richmond County. He later married Mary Frances "Fannie Green" in Illinois. Also died in Illinois. He supposedly left North Carolina during the Trail of Tears, hiding out in the hills, to prevent being sent to the reservation. I have no proof of birth or death, but do have his marriage license with Fannie Green,and Margaret Powell. He is Cherokee, but I have no proof of that either. Any help would be deeply appreciated.
