Hi. I'm looking for information about the Arends family who lived in the Kansas City, Kansas area and ran a family shoe company. The address of the Arends Shoe Company was listed in 1937 as located at 453 Minnesota Street, Kansas City, KS. Here's what I have so far. -Father: Frederich A. Arends (b. about 1826 in Prussia) -Mother: Mary Koestering (b. about 1832 in Hanover, Germany) -Children: 1) Emma (b. 1859, MO) 2) Clara (b. 1863, MO) 3) William (b. 1866, KS) 4) Frederich William Irion, Sr. (b. 01/16/1872 in Randolph, Riley County, Kansas d. 05/21/1948 in Okeene, OK m1. Sophia Maria Fredericke Richter, b. 02/08/1970 in Wersen, Techlenberg, Westphalen, Germany d. 08/06/1920 in Hitchcock, Oklahoma - 6 children - Nellie Louise, Frederick William Irion, Jr., Edna Mae, Bertha Bernadine, Violet Marion, and Hester Alvina m2. - probable other marriage(s)) 5) Henry (b. 02/22/1876 in Kansas City, KS d. Feb. 1972 Kansas City, Wyandotte County, Kansas) Note that child #4 (my ggfather) changed his last name from Arends to Irion. Other children may have also changed their last names. The family is listed in the 1880 census and has a nephew living with them. The nephew is listed as John H. Webber (b. about 1856, MO) with father born in Prussia and Mother born in Hanover. Child #5 (Henry kept the last name Arends) applied for a SS card in 1937 at age 60. Any addtional info or corrections would be appreciated. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
