Thomas Holmes b. 1785 in NY, and spouse Eunice Demarest are my gggrandparents. My research on Thomas is fairly current going forward, but finding his parents has eluded me. The 1855 NYS Census for NYC says he spent all but the first three years of his life in the City; not entirely true as he and wife Eunice lived in Williamsburgh, Kings Co. NY from abt 1831 returning to NYC approx. 10-12 years later. Thomas was a ship carpenter by trade. He and Eunice married c1807 in Kings Co. The couple had 7 children... Mary R. Hays, Charles D., Abigail Frederick, Thomas, Sarah M. Lynch, William and Jane Eliza Bunnell (my ggrandmother). Thomas died in August 1863; Eunice in 1849. Both are interred at Cypress Hills Cemetery, Brooklyn, NY in the Holmes Vault, est 1850.
