I have reason to believe that my fathers (Esplin) ancestors that were born in Scotland, were Jews and fled from Spain to Scotland in the 15th century Spanish Inquisition, and changed their name from Absalom to Esplin to avoid further persecution. Can anyone confirm this? My fathers ancestors lived in Forfar, near Dundee.
