I find Jessee Adams, born abt.1820 on the 1840 Washington county, TN federal census. He also is on the 1840/41 tax rolls for Washington County, TN. Jessee is listed as having 3 small boys and a wife between the age of 20 - 30 yrs. Does anyone know about this Jessee Adams and what his wife's name is? My grandmother (Eliza C. Adams Johnson) left a handwritten note stating that her father was James Adams of Greene County, TN (her mother was Sarah Ann Dyer of Greene County,TN) and her grandfather was Jesse Adams. She also wrote that her grandmother was a Henson from Washington County. I am guessing that Jessee's first wife died about in 1858 or 59 because there is a Jesse Adams of Greene County, TN who married Mahala Scott in May of 1861 and they turn up in 1870 (in Clay County Illinois) with a 3 year old and a 2 year old. I figure these boys are from the first wife and she may have died. Any tidbit of help will be greatly appreciated. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
