My oldest Kisling family record is the microfilm index for arrivals at Baltimore MD listing a Kiessling family arriving May 25th 1866 on the ship J.L.Thiermann as follows: Julius H. Kiessling age 49,Elenore age 46,Louis age 20,Richard age 14, Emma age 12,Paul age 9,Margaretha age 9 mos. Louis is my gg grandfather later married to Christina Rank in Baltimore before 1869. Louis died in 1873/4 after moving to New Haven, Huron county OH with the rest of his family, his widow Christina (Rank) remarried, moved to Iowa, then WI where she died under the name Hoffman Dec. 23 1923. She was married 3 times I think and I have no info on the 2nd & 3rd marriages. My G grandfatherHenry Emil, born 1868/9 in Baltimore used the surname Kisling when he married Ellen Coon(Kuhn) in 1890 at Haugen WI. I would like to excange info with any one doing research on Kissling,Kiessling,Kiesling,Kisling,Rank,Coon,Kuhn,or Wetzel that relate to the above. I have done one family tree with Family Tree for Windows (World Family Tree vol 8 tree 1929).My mother's tree(Dost) is part of a tree done by Brian Hogan: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Prairie/9164/ I don't know anything about my ancestors before their arrival in Baltimore except they list Saxony as their homeland, their names and ages. Julius H.Kiessling would have been born ca.1817 his wife Eleonore ca. 1820. I've copied census images from 1870,1880 in Ohio,1880,1900 and later in Wisconsin. I found most of my family in the 1870 Census for New Haven Township, Huron County OH page 20 under the Kissling name listing Saxony as their birthplace. They all match the passenger list for the J.L. Thiermann arriving May 25,1866 at Baltimore, but Richard and Emma are not listed with the other family members and Louis(Lewis) is listed with wife Chritiana and son Henry. In the 1880 Census I find Elenor, son Paul and daughter Mary in Tiffin OH but the other family members have disappeared:Juliusb.1817, Emma b.1854,Lewis b.1846,Richard b.1852 . Christine, Lewis' wife married Earnest Hoffmann in Ohio sometime before 1873 when their first son was born. They moved to Wisconsin before 1880 where the family is found in the Sumner township, Barron County Census. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
