Need help with the Billington family in the Cedar Key, Inglis, & Yankeetown area. I am researching the family of Edward Melvin Billington (a.k.a., E. M. Billington , Pat Billington) and his wives. E. M. Billington was born in Cedar Key, Florida in 1885 and at one time lived on an island known as Pat’s Elbow. This island was located at a bend near the mouth of the Withlacoohee River. E. M. Billington was a.k.a. as “Pat”Billington. From what I have read Pat’s Elbow was formerly know as Peterson’s Island and has been referred to as a Shell mound. Edward Melvin Billington was married three times in Florida. I found records of his first two marriages in Levy County. His last marriage was to Ella (Johnson) Billington, who was born about 1893. I have not found the record of this marriage and the family is trying to find out what happened to Ella Johnson. She seems to have disappeared. There were three children from this marriage and they were sent to different foster homes and never saw their parents or siblings again. Two of the children were said to have been born in Fishline, Levy County, Florida. The children were, Pearl, Edward, & Carrie. Carrie was adopted by a family from NY and died in 1994. Pat Billington was sent to prison in 1919 and escaped at least two times. The last time was in 1924 and we later find him in Tennessee in the 1930's with another name. I have listed some information on this family below. I am looking for any information on Edward Billington and his family. What ever happened to his wife Ella Johnson and their children. (We know what happened to CARRIE.) If there is any mention in the local Histories on this family or if anyone has information I would like to hear from you. Your help is greatly appreciated. Roger A.
