Hello...I am attempting to find the birthplace of my ggggg-grandfather, Henry Hawk born abt. 1739/d.in 1804 in Augusta Co., Virginia. He was married to a Catherine Wren, b.1743 in Montgomery Co., PA/d.1822 in Augusta Co., VA. I have seen two sources through family trees stating he was born in Holland; one source lists him as being born in Montgomery Co., PA; a fourth source listing Henry being born in England. Henry and Catherine had the following children: Elizabeth, Johannes, Mary"Polly", Andrew, Rachel,Frederick, Abraham, Jacob, Catherine. If anyone could provide information as to Henry's origins, as well as his parents, I would be most grateful. It is possible that the name "Hawk" was a variation on "Haag" or something similiar, especially if he came from Holland or Germany.
