STEWART : STUART | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Query Text: |
I am a step-Great Grandson of Jack, or James, Stuart, or Stewart. He was a "bull-cracker"/oxen driver on wagon trains from Missouri to Oregon on the Oregon Trail. He brought out 4 wagon trains over 3 summers. He retired to the wheat fields of SE Washington state about 1883 and married my Great-Grandmother Laura N. (Rexford) Gates in Colfax, WA. They moved about, with him working in agricultural work. He allegedly died in or around American Falls, Idaho, and she returned to Diamond, WA to live with one of their daughters, where she died in 1934 and is buried at Colfax, WA. No one seems to know where he is buried. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
