Query Text:

I have discovered reference in the 1851 Census for St Paul's Parish, Portsea Is, England to my 3xGtGrandfather William COX born c.1816 in Gloucestershire, England). He was living with his wife (Matilda COX born c.1813 on St Kitts), his son (William COX born c.1842 on St Kitts) and his daughter (Mary COX born c.1848 on St Kitts). William senior was working in the UK as a railway policeman. Judging from the birth dates it would appear that he went out to St Kitts prior to his marriage in St Kits and returned the UK with his family soon after his daughter was born in St Kitts. I am trying to discover why William senior went out to St Kitts and to learn more about Matilda and her parentage. Any help would be appreciated even if this is only to point me in the right direction so that I can complete my research. John
