James W. FRY was born ca March 1849 in Tennessee (age was 51 in 1900) came to Texas prior to 1875, both parents unknown but may have been born in Alabama. James was in Llano County, Texas in 1900 with his children William L. (1875-1932), Rosa Ella (1880-1953), Clara D. (1882-1972), Vessie M. (1884-1955), James Ira (1886-1940) and Lou Nora (1888-1905), all born in Texas. His wife is unknown, she died sometime between December 12, 1888- June 29, 1900 and I have yet to locate James on any census in 1880. Neighboring families in 1900 were Cate and Dean. My great grandmother Vessie (Fry) William's obituary states that she was a native of Erath County, Texas and James Ira Fry's death certificate lists his place of birth as Lee County, Texas.
