Query Text: |
I am trying to trace any relatives of Mathew Gahan who was born in Ireland in the 1860’s. Matthew’s father was also called Matthew and is listed as an “engine driver”. Matthew Gahan married Margaret Silcock in St.George Hanover Square, London in 1893. Margaret was from Antrim and her father’s name was Samuel. In 1894 they had returned to Ireland and they had their first child, a girl called Jessie, born in Mullingar, Westmeath. Around 1901 the family were living at 45 Hartwell Street, Litherland, Liverpool. Mathew was an electric tram diver and they then had two more children Robert (1898) and John (1901) and I am not sure but I think there was another daughter born around 1903, she could have been Elsie. My grandfather was John Gahan (1901) and unfortunately he left home and went to sea when he was in his teens and lost contact with all of his family. As a result I have no knowledge of what happened to my grandfathers’ parents or siblings. I would like to get in touch with any relatives of Jessie, Robert or Elsie (?) or anyone who knows anything about the Gahan family in Liverpool or Ireland. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
