My Grandfather, Thomas Franklin Gilbert, was a small child when his father was killed somewhere in Polk Co. MO. He grew up with a foster family. No one alive seems to know who they were. He went into the Northern Army Militia, during the Civil War. I think he was about 15 or 16 years old. I found a cencus of 1850 in Polk Co, MO. I believe this to be his family. It stated, Head of the house as, Jim Gilbert, wife, Elizabeth. Three sons were listed. William, James, and Thomas. all born in Indiana. But the parents listed as born in Ohio. William, and James went into the Northern Army, during the ,"Civil War," and never came back. After the cencus was taken in 1850, a daughter, Mary Jane,(Mollie)Gilbert, was born. she too was raised by a foster family?? She married," Benjamin Tinsley", who was a DR. They lived around Foyle,Oklahoma for over 40 years, they died there. My grandfather Thomas Franklin Gilbert went by T.F., and Frank. He married several times. The first was Jane Fullington, They had a daughter," Mauverneen." They divorced in MO. Then a son born to (I heard her name was," Carpenter") I don't know for sure, she died in child birth, giving birth to a son named,"Thomas (Tommy) Gilbert. He was raised by a family named, "Woodard", in MO. Thomas Franklin Gilbert, married third, my grandmother. Mary Jane (Cramer) Baughman in MO. She had four children by John Baughman, her first husband. Mary, and "Thomas Franklin Gilbert," had five children. I came throught the son, James William Gilbert. The Gilbert family moved into Indian Terratory, ( Oklahoma) in 1893. They lived around Collinsville, Sand springs, and in the north East part of OK. May's Co. Rogers Co. some of the family on the Cramer side still live in MO. The Gilbert's side are mostly in Oklahoma. I've searched for 30 years for this line, and hope someone out there can help me find my lost lines. Thanks, Coradean (Corky) Camery | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
