I am in search of information about my great grandfather Jacob Martin Huhn. What I have discovered so far is that he arrived in the US in 1897 from Russia as a single 19 year old. I believe he spoke "high german" and was possibly from the Black Forest region of present day Germany. He married Lina Schatz (somewhere? possibly in the Cleveland area) and became a US citizen in 1900 while living in Eureka, South Dakota. They had no children as of the 1900 census, but their first born was Alvin Jacob Huhn (born 12/26/1900, married Anne Partyka 1922 d. 1963 Wilton, North Dakota). I understand Jacob and Lina lived in Eureka, S.D. where he was a harness and shoe maker. Other stories are that he was a volunteer fire-fighter and played the picalo. He died at age 75 in 1950 in Eureka, S.D. sometime after Lina passed away. He may be buried there. I would like to find out more about this man and his wife. I have very little information about his parents (Martin Huhn) | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
