Seeking ancestry of Thomas Francis Doherty (image in query), glassware packer of Chicago IL, born 15 May 1850 [family bible record] Co Clare Ireland [from first child's Chicago birth certificate], immigrated alone about 1868 [family lore], married Susanna Mary Goodfellow 18 May 1880 St. Columbkill's, Chicago [church record] and died 14 Apr 1904 Chicago [death certificate]. Wife Susanna born 24 May 1855 in Barrie, Simcoe Co Ontario of Thomas G. Goodfellow and Susanna Smith who was born 6 Sep 1835 of Norman Phelps Smith (born 25 Jan 1808 Thetford VT of Jethro Smith, born 21 Dec 1780 CT of Richard and Hulda {Sackett} Smith, and Hannah Freeman, dau of William) [Thetford VT town records] and Margaret Coffey (b Ireland). Thomas and Susanna had 6 children, all born Chicago: Mary Agnes (1881) and Helen Catherine (1883)[both baptized Catholic] and Susanna Mary (1885), Edward James (1886), Katherine Grace (1888) and Thomas Leon (1891). Thomas had a brother James Doherty who lived with wife and at least 2 children in or near Boston MA from at least 1880s until 1904 [from family photographs]. I have photo of an (otherwise unnamed) elderly "mother of Thomas" and a photo dated 13 Sep 1881 from Studio of T. O'Connor, 20 George St and 3 Military Road, Limerick, Ireland of a uniformed man with a W&LR (Waterford & Limerick Railway) patch and the number 97 on his hat.
