Query Text: |
Although my grandfather was from a large family, he knows nothing about them, as his father never mentioned them to him, maybe he was the black sheep of the family we do not know. My fathers name is Philip Walter MacFarlane, he was born on August 14th 1921, at 3 Sturller Road, Chatham, Kent. His fathers name was Fredrick William Johnston MacFarlane and was married to Edith Alice Allen, they had another son Arthur Royston born in 1908. We do not have any names or dates for my fathers grandfather only that he had a tailors business in London. On his mothers side we know that she had a sister called Mildred Constance and her fathers name was Walter Allen and was a shipwright working at Chatham and Southshields dockyards and in Cape Town South Africa. My other grandfathers name was James Frederick Ward from Lowestoft. He was a trawlerman for the whole of his working life and was a skipper for a large proportion of that. He skippered the trawlers Hondo and Salycon I think. He was awarded the MBE for his efforts during World War Two Does anyone know anything more? | |||||||||||||||||||||||||
