I was born on September 27, 1962 at Metropolitan Hospital, New York City, NY to a very young African-American woman named Shirley Taylor. My birth name is Marilyn Marietta Taylor. At the time of my birth, she used to leave me in the care of Mary and James Suber, at an apartment building, 128 W 139th Street in Harlem, supposedly across the street from where Shirley lived. One day not too long after my birth, Shirley, who is rumoured to have had another child before me, decided she could not raise the both of us properly, so she gave me over to the Subers, with my birth certificate and my immunization record in one hand, me in the other. Supposedly the Subers did not know much about her, and according to others I have tried to recieve information from, claim not to know much of her either. Last year, I flew to NY to try to get my hospital birth records from Metropolitan Hospital, but was told that those records were destroyed after 18 YEARS!! I don't know too much info on Shirley, such as her age, description, actual address at the time, nothing. I never heard of my birth father ever being in the picture. I now am married, living in Colorado with my husband. I am hoping and praying that somewhere,someone knows some details that would fit the pieces to this puzzle, whether it be an actual relative, or even a friend that lived in that area and knew the Subers or Shirley at the time. I have a family of my own, a beautiful daughter and granddaughter. I would love, before I leave this earth, to close this chapter of my life.
