Alexander Thompson married Janet Syme Taylor and owned a ships' chandlers in Dunedin, New Zealand in the late 1880s. His first child, Katherine Jane Bennett (nee Thompson)and my great-grandmother, was born 18.8.1873, followed by May, Beatrice, Charles and Amy Stokes (nee Thompson). He introduced the macintosh (invented by Charles MacIntosh) to N.Z, having obtained the franchise for that region. Family history states Alexander Thompson attended university in Scotland (Glasgow or Edinburgh) with his brother, lived in County Antrim at some stage and that his mother was a MacIntosh, sister to the laird of that period. Does anyone have some information about this branch of the prolific MacIntoshes? | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
