I am searching for Joseph Phelan last known in Manchester 1897. Married to Clara Lowry (Lowery) and with 4 children Joseph is listed in the 1891 census as living with his family and as working as a hairdresser. Up to 1897 I have found him in the business directories, but after 1897 he disappears. In the 1901 Clara and the children have been split up with 3 children in the workhouse. I need to find out what happened to Joseph because he is named on the birth certificate of my grandmother who was born in 1902 to Joseph and Clara - but my grandmother never knew him - she was told he died before he was born, but I can't find any records of death for him! Also, would be interested in Phelan / Daly in Dublin before 1881. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
