Query Text: |
My grandfather Edwin Richard Abbott born 1915 at Sandy Point St George Newfoundland came over to the uk during ww2 to work as a logger for the war effort, never returning to newfoundland. He told us that he and his brother were orphans .I have since found that his father Otto died at Sandy Point in 1920,the mystery is with his wife Gertrude,my great Grandmother her maiden name was Renouf from Sandy Point, she is not on her husbands headstone and i can find no death records for her.I have found her on passenger lists in 1920 1925 and 1926 travelling between Port Aux Basques and Nova Scotia, the 1925 and 1926 state that she is deported for being physically and mentally defective.I have managed to get hold of some documentation from the Waterford Hospital in St Johns, the only records they have, stating that she suffered from Dementia Praecox(premature dementia)but was discharged in 1922 as she was cured.I have been told that she died in a mental asylum i assume in St Johns, how would i get more info,i assume she died between 1927 and 1940. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
