My great grandfather was Louis Charles Cluett, He was born in St. Valentin, Quebec in Jan.(appx) 1844. His parents were Felix Cluett and Henrietta Dozois Cluett. His father died in 1871. His mother died in New Hampshire in 1894. He joined the US Navy in Aug. 1864, before his 21st birthday. Because his father was so against him joining, he used an alias, Joseph Oben, at enlistment. He had 6 brothers, Amos, Joseph, Frank, and John, whereabouts unknown,Isaac, somewhere in New Hampshire, Mancille (?), a "boss"at a collar factory in Contoocook,(?),NH, and a sister, Victoria, mNH, married name unknown. MY great great grandfather served with the Union, US Navy, as a landsman, and his later service, firing from guns aboard the boat. He died in 1923 at the Old Soldier's Home, Leavenworth, KA. THOUGH I HAVE HIS PENSION PAPERS, i CAN FIND NOTHING ELSE (all this info is in his deposition, required for his Confederate pension.
