Seeking contact with the descendants of George DAY (or O'DAY) and Mary BECKETT (various spellings: BACKELL, BROOKELL, BUCKELL - also recorded as O'LAUGHLAN/ O'LOUGHLIN) who married in Hamilton Tasmania in 1835. They had 10 children born between 1835 and 1852,in places like Falls, New Norfolk, Hobart, Hamilton and Back River in Tasmania. Their son, Samuel DAY born in Bothwell Tas, and married Mary WARD in Carisbrook Victoria. Samuel and Mary had 14 children, whose births between 1872 and 1899, were registered in Eddington and Gippsland in Victoria in the names of DAY and O'DAY. Their children mostly remained in Victoria, but their second son, George DAY (1874-1910)married Minnie POWELL in Ballarat and moved to the new town of Lockhart in NSW where their 5 children were born. The next generation in NSW mostly lived in north coast area of NSW (Bowraville, Kempsey). I am currently working towards publishing the DAY/O'DAY family history and would love to receive the family stories and old photos from descendants to include in the book.
