I'm researching family members out of the oklahoma and kansas area during the early to mid-1900's. My search is beginning in okmulgee county, oklahoma (natura township) where I know the Murphy family lived in 1920. Frank and Mary Murphy are my great great grandparents. They are believed to have both been born in Texas, later moving to Indian Terriory before 1905. Their children are Charlie, Clara, Pearl, Lucille (my great-grandmother), Fred, and Katie. It is believed that the oldest two children Charlie and Clara were born when Oklahoma was Indian Territory, I'm not sure under what Nation. I believe their mother Mary (ne้ Rogers) had direct mixture of Black and Native Ancestry. The later children were born after the territory became a state. At some point before 1930 I believe the family moved to Kansas. I'm hoping to find records for Frank and Mary, perhaps a marriage license or something of that nature. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
