Hello, I am one of the members of the Berwyn Heights Historical Committee located in Berwyn Heights, MD. We are in Prince George's County--a few miles from Washington D.C. Each year, our committee researches the original name of one of the streets in our Town and dedicates a Historical Marker in its honor on BH Day. BH Day is always the first Saturday of May. This year we are unveiling the marker for Charlton Avenue. Benjamin Charlton (1820-1894) was an original developer of 393 acres of land called Charlton Heights which is now called Berwyn Heights. I believe that he only lived in Washington, DC and inherited Havenner's Bakery after the owner's death (Thomas) in 1871. Benjamin was married to Sarah Havenner who died in Maryland. Is anyone related to this family? Thank you in advance and all the best, Cheryl J. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
