I was born in New Dehli, India in 1982 (approximately...when I was adopted the doctors estimated my age, and I was given the birthdate September 8th, 1982... so I'm not sure exactly ). I was told that my real birth name was Gita, and I was given the name Mary Beth. I know I stayed at Holy Cross Social Service Center before I was adopted by a couple from Atlanta Georgia. I'm looking for any relatives out there that I may have. I was told by my adopted parents that my birthmother died at a young age of cancer, and that my grandfather gave me up for adoption because he knew he was dying of cancer as well. (Nothing on my father, so I'm guessing he's desceased as well). I am 26 years old now and my adopted parents have given me a vague story my whole life and claim that India does not keep information concerning adoptions. My adopted parents tell me both my parents are dead, but my adoption paper says I was abandoned, which makes me think that maybe I could still have family there) When I asked them (my adoptive parents)to give me all my adoption records, they provided me with 5 pieces of paper claiming that that was all they have. I'mdying to find out if I have any siblings out there possibly, or if I can fid out any information about my birth family. The US adoption agency my adopted parents used was Illien Adoption Agency located in Fulton County Georgia. I was brought to the states when I was 2 by the director of the agency, Annabell Illien. I have tried contacting the agency but no one will respond to my request for information. The Atlanta News came out to my adoptive familys' house and did a story on my adoption shortly after I arrived in America, which I still have on tape. If anyone out there can give me any information I would greatly appreciate it. I have tried contacting the Fulton County Courthouse as well to see if they have any of my birth records in there archives and they will not respond as well. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
