Garrett Vanzant (spelled variously) was an early settler, probably 1750s, along the South Fork River in what would become Lincoln County, N.C., by the time he died. Deed records suggest he may have been in the area known as Long Shoals. Recently relocated this area and would like to identify location of his residence, which I assume is no longer standing. Also seeking leads on Garrett's wife's name. I do know that Garrett seems to have lived adjacent to BIGGERSTAFF family, into which his daughter married, until the late 1760s with this family relocated west into what is now Rutherford County. Vanzant may also have been a close neighbor of Kostner (Costner, Causner) family. This inquiry is about the senior Garrett Vanzant. He also had a son by this name who shows up later in Surry County, N.C. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
